Our Programs

Development of Competences: Communicative, Intercultural, and Technology in Spanish Classes

This intensive teacher training course is designed to provide practical tools and innovative strategies that you can directly apply in your educational environment. It combines lectures on topics related to methods and strategies for teaching Spanish as a foreign language with an interesting program of cultural activities in the capital of Andalusia.

Modules

Effective Communication

Communication and emotional management are crucial elements in the learning process. Teachers must be aware of how to manage emotions and understand interactions in the classroom to avoid misunderstandings and conflicts. This module addresses theories and communication techniques to improve effectiveness in teaching, promoting awareness of different communication styles and flexibility to adapt to students' needs.

Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) is presented as a crucial tool to influence interpersonal interaction and achieve goals. This approach uses verbal and non-verbal commands to modify behaviors and has applications in teaching Spanish. NLP highlights the importance of language, tone of voice, and body language in interpreting and responding to students, offering techniques such as anchoring and positive associations to motivate and improve the learning process. Teachers can adapt personalized strategies, improve retention, and foster a positive classroom environment by applying NLP principles.

Development of Intercultural Competence

This course seeks to improve intercultural communication in the Spanish language classroom by developing students' intercultural competence. It addresses the study of the consequences of cultural shock and communication difficulties due to ignorance of socio-cultural aspects. The teacher will learn to face cultural misunderstandings and work with diatopic varieties of Spanish, thus improving the ability to process messages with different pronunciations.

Use of Technology in Spanish Classes

The incorporation of ICTs in Spanish language teaching involves modernizing traditional educational methods. The use of 2.0 applications offers opportunities for students, digital natives, to learn interactively, adapting to their preferences for images, sound, and concise messages. This not only facilitates communication but also improves their cognitive processes.

Experiential Application

This module emphasizes the need to combine practice with theory to achieve effective learning. It seeks to establish a solid connection between emotions and knowledge, promoting positive responses and direct reflections on students' experience. Additionally, it offers the opportunity to connect the emotional and rational dimension in emblematic scenarios of the city, fostering cultural immersion.

Our courses are designed for the professional development of Spanish language teachers around the world.  We will gladly adapt the content of the course to the needs and interests of the participants.

See below some of our past sessions:

The development of critical thinking in the ELE classroom

In accordance with the New Literacy Studies, we will detail to what extent and how students can acquire skills to manage discursive genres, both oral and written as well as the use of multimodal resources, in a critical and reflective manner.

We will analyze what are the best resources and didactic techniques to develop the necessary skills to promote reading and writing into communicative interaction, social participation and personal learning.

Heritage speakers: specific needs in specific contexts

In recent years, countries such as the United States and Canada, and especially in the university environment, have implemented Spanish teaching programs geared to natives of the language. But who are they and what are their needs that may be different from other learners? In this workshop we will detail their identity contexts,

We will discover their educational needs and navigate through the teaching resources that best suit them.

Intercultural competence development course

In an increasingly globalized society in which relationships with people from other cultures are more and more frequent, it is essential to acquire and develop skills to function fluently in these intercultural encounters and achieve mutual understanding for communicative success.

Unfortunately, when we interact with people from another culture, we do not always take into account a whole series of values, beliefs, ways of thinking, feelings and behavior that are present in an intercultural encounter. In these situations in which two ways of perceiving reality collide, communication may even be hindered.

Methodology of teaching Spanish and use of New Technologies

Aimed at teachers of Spanish as a foreign language living outside of Spain.

Participants will have the opportunity to reflect and develop their methodologies and teaching techniques by incorporating the latest technology used here to students who live connected to social networks and technology in general.

Course for teachers of bilingual schools with CLIL/CLIL methodology

The CLIL methodology is characterized by its innovative model where students improve communication skills in other languages, while reinforcing curricular content in other areas.

The aim of the course is for the participating teachers to become familiar with the methodology, learn to apply it and reflect on their role as a teacher in the current educational system.
